Music and Cuisine at the Center
The Ludington Area Center for the Arts takes theater one step further in its creative coupling of performance and cuisine. In 2009, the Center paired the music of Aaron Meyer, classically trained rock violinist of Portland, Oregon, with a Thai cooking demonstration by renowned chef Sonthaya Kaewpradit. The annual Taste of Mason County event combines the music of artists such as Mason County pianist Craig Avery with exhibitions of local art and samplings from area restaurants, breweries, and wineries.
The Ludington Area Center for the Arts is home to music events ranging from concerts by the 65-member Ludington High School wind ensemble to solo guitar performances by area folk musicians. Through a partnership with Michigan State University, the Center presents the annual Jazz It Up Fundraiser, featuring music clinics for area students led by visiting musicians from MSU’s masters-level music ensembles and an evening performance to benefit the Center.
